When it comes to converting visitors into leads and then into paying customers, the use of sales funnels has proven to be highly effective. There are several tools that you can use to build sales funnels, including Karta, Leadpages, and others, but none can do it better than ClickFunnels.
We often sing the praises of ClickFunnels on this website, but we haven’t had the opportunity to explain how you can utilize the acclaimed platform to build the best sales funnel. Wait no longer, as we’re about to walk you through the process of creating affiliate funnels with ClickFunnels.
1. Setting Up Your Account
Setting up your account is fairly straightforward. Simply click the free trial link, enter your details, and choose the plan that you’d like to subscribe to after your free trial has ended.
ClickFunnels has two main plans: ClickFunnels and ClickFunnels Platinum (Etison Suite). You’ll be able to create sales funnels with either one, but there are some notable differences.
Apart from the difference in the number of funnels, pages, users, and more, the features that set the Platinum plan apart from the basic plan are Actionetics and Backpack Affiliate Marketing.
Actionetics is ClickFunnels’ very own email marketing solution, whereas Backpack allows you to set up your own affiliate marketing programs by hiring affiliates that will promote your products.
Generally, you won’t need to utilize the ClickFunnels Platinum plan unless you’re some kind of a professional marketer, which is why we suggest using the basic plan to hone your skills first.
After selecting your preferred plan, you’ll need to enter your credit or debit card information. No worries, you won’t be charged until the 14-day free trial period ends. And voila! You’re all set.
2. Select an Affiliate Product
There are different sorts of funnels that you can create with ClickFunnels, but since we’re mainly talking about affiliate marketing in this article, you’ll need to pinpoint an affiliate product.
You’re not required to pick a specific product. You can select any product you like. You can find affiliate products with the aid of Clickbank, WarriorPlus, JVZoo, or even ClickFunnels itself.
While you’re free to select any product you want, we strongly recommend products that feature some sort of free training or free product so that its chances of converting visitors is high.
Upon picking a product, you can start promoting it by driving traffic to your affiliate offer directly. But before you do that, you should build an email list to ensure direct and personal contact.
We’ll get into the whole email marketing facet shortly, but the takeaway from this section of the article is that you’re better off promoting products that offer some sort of a free offering.
3. Create Your Sales Funnel
Now that your ClickFunnels account is all set up and you’ve pinpointed the product you’d like to promote, it’s time to create the sales funnel that’ll help you promote that product.
The funnel you’re going to build will only have two pages: a landing page and a thank-you page. To start, go to your ClickFunnels dashboard, select “Click Funnels”, and then select “Funnels.”
Can you see the “Add New” option? Select it, and you’ll be presented with two options. The first option is “Create New Funnel,” which will allow you to build your own funnel from scratch.
The second option is the “Start Cookbook.” This option allows you to pick from 22 varying types of sales funnel that are already pre-made and ready for you to use for your business.
Have you chosen the template of your preference? Excellent! Now it’s time to use ClickFunnels’ intuitive drag and drop editor to modify anything you want on the prompted pages.
The awesome thing about ClickFunnels’ editor is that it’s entirely visual, meaning that you don’t need to have any sort of experience with coding or design to be able to utilize it.
Using the drag-and-drop editor is as simple as dragging a bunch of blocks and elements to your pages.
For the landing page, you want to keep the design as simple as possible, as this is the page that your visitors first see. For the thank-you page, however, you’ll need to make a few changes.
The thank-you page is the page your visitors see upon submitting their email address. The page will contain a thank-you message and a video that promotes a complementary product.
Just to give you an example, let’s say that your primary affiliate product is a toothbrush, what do you think the video on your thank-you page should promote? You guessed it! Toothpaste.
A clever thing you can do is a ClickFunnels intro video that encourages visitors to start their own ClickFunnels free trial. You can even add a button that directs visitors to ClickFunnels’ free trial.
Now that you’re done creating the thank-you page for your funnel, you’ll need to link the page to the landing page you’ve created earlier. This is a very simple process that won’t take a minute.
All you need to do is copy the thank-you page’s URL, head to the landing page’s editor, pick the option “General” from “Settings,” and simply paste the URL to the “On Submit Go To” field.
This is pretty much the way to create any sort of sales funnel. However, you’re not done yet. It’s important to integrate a reliable email marketing solution to convert your leads into customers.
4. Integrate Email Marketing
Email marketing is one of the most optimal ways of nurturing leads and turning them into paying customers. For this tutorial, we’ll use GetResponse, simply because it has a 30-day free trial.
There are various email marketing solutions out there, including MailChimp, AWeber, and more. And if you’re subscribed to ClickFunnels Platinum, you’ll be able to resort to Actionetics.
How does email marketing work exactly? In a nutshell, once a visitor enters their email address, your email marketing service will automatically send the lead a link to your affiliate offer.
Using the email marketing provider of your preference, which is GetResposne, in our case, you’ll be able to create and send emails to the leads on your list based on the actions they take.
For example, you can send specific emails to the leads that have opened your message, or you can send different emails to the leads that have clicked a particular link in your message.
So how exactly can you create an email marketing campaign? Well, you’ll need three things: an email list, a couple of draft emails, and an automated workflow. Let’s go over each component.
Building an Email List
The first step in launching an email marketing campaign is creating a list. This list will include all of the people who submitted their email address. We’ll be using GetResponse to create the list.
All you need to do is register for your 30-day free trial period with GetResponse. After setting up your account, select the “Lists” option on the main menu and simply create a new list.
Keep in mind that upon creating a new list, the list will contain your contact info by default. You’ll want to create a dummy list just to practice and apply what we’re teaching you in this tutorial.
Creating Draft Emails
For the funnel we’re working on in this tutorial, we’re going to need two different emails. The first email will be sent for those who complete the form on the landing page we’ve created.
The second email is sent to visitors who open the message, but don’t click the affiliate offer. This is an excellent way of making sure that you’re making the most out of email marketing.
Creating an email with GetResponse is simple. Click on “Menu,” select “Email Marketing,” select “Create Newsletter,” select “Drag and Drop Editor,” and give your email a name and subject.
Thereafter, you’ll need to select the template of your preference. There are many templates that you can pick from. You also have the option to create your own template from scratch.
You must always make sure that your emails are proofread and edited. Further, make sure your emails are concise and short. After you’re done, click “Save as Draft” and then exit the editor.
When we say automation workflow, we simply mean the ability to send emails automatically. It’s possible to set up your workflow as per your preference, so you’re not stuck with a single option.
Setting up an automation workflow with GetResponse isn’t that very hard. From the “Menu,” you want to select the “Automation” option and then select “Create Workflow.”
You can select one of the proposed workflows, or you can select “Build from Scratch.” Now, you need to design your workflow plan and implement it. We suggest using GetResponse’s guide.
5. Completing Your Funnel
Your sales funnel is almost ready to start making you some money. The final step before setting your sales funnel in action is to link your ClickFunnels and GetResponse accounts together.
To link ClickFunnels with GetResponse, head to GetResponse’s dashboard, select “Integrations & API,” select “API” from the left-hand side of your screen, and then click “Generate API Key.”
Then, you want to go to the settings tab in your ClickFunnels account and go to the integrations section. Thereafter, select “Add New Integration” then search for and select GetResponse.
Keep in mind that you can give your integration a custom name if you want. Lastly, you want to paste the API key you’ve copied from GetResposne and select “Add Integration.”
We’d like to point out that GetResponse has a Live Chat feature you can submit your questions to. If you encounter any errors during the process, copy/paste it into the chat to receive help.
After integrating your GetResponse account with your ClickFunnels account, you want to go to the sales funnel you’ve created, click on “Edit Page”, and pick GetResponse from “Integrations.”
Upon selecting GetResponse from the “Integrations” tab, you’ll be asked to select the list you’d like to add. All you have to do is select the list of your preference, and you’re ready to go.
6. Means of Driving Traffic
Now that your funnel is live, it’s time to implement various means of marketing to drive traffic to your funnel, which in turn will maximize your sales. Here are a few ways you can do so.
Utilizing exit-intent popups is a very effective way of generating more traffic and garnering more leads. If you already have a website, you’ll find the use of exit-intent popups to be very lucrative.
What exactly are exit-intent popups? Well, they’re simple popups that get triggered whenever a visitor is about to exit your site. This guide will help you create such popups with ClickFunnels.
Social Media Sites
With millions of users fueling social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and such, it’s no surprise that using these platforms to garner traffic and high conversion is extremely effective.
There are plenty of ways you can go about promoting your funnel on social media websites. Not only that, but you can also run paid ads on these platforms to maximize your conversion rate.
Relying on Forums
You can generate traffic to your funnel by simply answering questions on forums like Quora and Yahoo Answers. All you have to do is provide reliable answers with a link to your sales funnel.
As you can see, it doesn’t take an expert to build sales funnels with the aid of ClickFunnels. The process is pretty straightforward and won’t take more than mere minutes from you once you get the hang of things. If you have any questions regarding today’s topic, feel free to let us know.
